Air Canada's transformed loyalty program means big savings on future travel

It happens every single year.

We forget that summer inevitably ends and the only way to cure the Canadian winter blues is to think of future vacations. Travelling is no doubt complicated right now, but it won’t be forever, and it’s never too early to start planning and saving.

Just in time, Air Canada has launched a more rewarding Aeroplan loyalty program. This redesigned, easy-to-use program has exciting new features, outstanding travel perks, and better benefits. The idea is that when you’re ready to travel again, with Aeroplan, you can do it more confidently, better, and more often.

Air Canada has developed the Aeroplan program with all Canadian travellers in mind so they can travel more confidently than ever before. Booking flights and getting to the airport should be an exciting experience, not a stressful one.

Being greeted with expensive fees that aren’t covered by other rewards programs is always a nasty way to start your trip planning. Aeroplan will cover cash surcharges on flight rewards with Air Canada, saving you potentially hundreds of dollars instead of adding on extra fees at checkout.

Use your reward points however you wish

Spending money to save loyalty points just to find out those points are not applicable for the things you really want is so frustratingly common. Aeroplan now gives you the freedom, without restrictions, to book any Air Canada seat that can be purchased in cash, in any cabin class, on any flight with your saved points.

And if you don’t have quite enough points for the flight you want, then you can pay with a mix of Points + Cash. You can also use your points for other extras, like upgrading to a higher cabin class, or redeeming for inflight WiFi, which will be available in December.

If you want to reap all the rewards of the new program, sign up for an Aeroplan credit card to earn points faster and get more perks. Aeroplan credit cardholders earn extra points in popular categories and Air Canada purchases with eligible cards. Plus, eligible Aeroplan credit cardholders get access to special travel benefits like Maple Leaf Lounge access, free first checked bag, priority boarding, and priority airport services.

Share your points

Every group tends to have that one person who’s saved a seemingly infinite amount of points. Even if you could never use them all, rewards programs often won’t let you share these points with anyone else.

Points are there to be used; they should never just sit in someone’s account, and Aeroplan agrees. With the transformed Aeroplan, up to eight family members can share their points for free with Aeroplan Family Sharing.

It’ll be easier than ever to be generous with your points — and even bring your entire squad on that much-needed tropical vacation when we can travel safely once more. With an eligible Aeroplan credit card, you and up to eight people you’re travelling with can even get a free first checked bag.

Plan your trip with ease

This loyalty program has both intuitive earning and predictable pricing in points. What does that mean? You’ll know exactly how many points you are earning, how much you need, and how much you use.

This is because Aeroplan flight rewards are related to the price of the ticket in cash. And to make it easier to plan, you can use the Points Predictor Tool that gives you a likely range of points required for the flight you want. You can also now earn points on every Air Canada flight when you book in cash at aircanada.com or on the app.

Many loyalty programs feel more like an exclusive club, but Aeroplan just wants to be there for any Canadian excited to travel. Learn more about what the Aeroplan program can do for your travel needs here or become a member today.
