Former Irish Embassy Pub building being turned into condos (RENDERINGS)

Downing pints and listening to music at the old Irish Embassy location is a thing of the past.

Unless, of course, you’re doing it at the iconic spot’s new condominiums.

Irish Embassy Pub & Grill, the landmark Bishop Street bar, has been closed since March 2018, after the building was damaged in a fire.

Bishop Embassy, the newly announced residential project, is transforming the location into a 10-storey, 41-unit condo building.

Situated on Bishop Street, right in the middle of downtown, Bishop Embassy will incorporate the former pub’s historic facade into a new tower with a modern design.

The units will range from 350 to 520 square feet, spread out across the building’s 7th to 10th floors, and the first six floors will serve as a new hotel.

The project is expected to be finished by fall 2020, according to the Bishop Embassy website.

Highlights and amenities include:

  • High-end soundproofing
  • Central hot water system
  • Rooftop terrace
  • Fitness centre
  • Secured access (microchip and cameras)
  • Nine-foot exposed concrete ceilings
  • All appliances included
  • Porcelain tiles and quartz counters
  • Engineered wood flooring
  • Programmable electronic thermostats
  • Air conditioning system
  • An individual air exchange system
  • Refined design, high-quality finishes, and large windows

In an email with Daily Hive, a spokesperson from Bishop Embassy confirmed that none of the building’s former bars and restaurants will be part of the building’s facelift, except for Grump’s Bar, which is “expected to remain.”

Until then, here are a few renderings of how the new condos will look.
