Zombie Paintball in Surrey a hit with Lower Mainlanders

The zombie apocalypse is here and it’s in Surrey. So brush off your survival guide and arm yourself to survive what is one of the greatest additions to Metro Vancouver’s Halloween festivities, The Zombie Combat Zone.

The Zombie Combat Zone (Zombie paintball) runs until November 15 at the Panther Paintball grounds, at 19022 16th Ave. An immersive zombie invasion/fighting experience in a South Surrey forest overrun by the undead. After hearing the stories from people who’ve experienced it, it is worth every dollar and that is why it’s virtually sold out.

Once you enter you will have limited ammunition as you navigate your way through the military mission to rescue scientists. Soldiers guide you along the way, but it’s up to you to defend yourself and your group against the zombie infestation.

Groups of eight to 12 combatants dress up in tactical gear and are met by a soldier who reads them the riot act. It’s more than just your typical paintball game, it’s live theatre and you and your group are the stars.

You must be 16 and up, unless accompanied by a parent. In the two weeks leading up to Halloween, the organizers will host Zombiefest, an all-ages haunted walk through the forest.

The Zombie Combat Zone runs Thursday through Sunday until Nov. 15. Although it is sold out, plans are in the works to extend it to meet demand. This will also be returning in 2013.
