Online real estate property website Zillow has announced that it is expanding its listing services north of the border into Canada.

The Seattle-based company has released its first 50,000 listings on its website and mobile app, based on the partnerships it has created with Canadian brokerages and franchisors.

Thousands of listings can currently be viewed for the housing markets in the Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto areas, but at the time of writing there are no listings for the Montreal area.

Canadians looking to buy or rent property can search for-sale or for-lease properties by postal code, city or province, and use search filters to customize and save their search parameters.

Information provided for Canadian listings include the home’s list price, a description of the property, photos, and available home facts and statistics. Other details consist of the listing agent’s contact information and link to the brokerage or franchise website.

“It’s an exciting time at Zillow and we’re thrilled to start expanding our listings coverage outside the US and provide the millions of home shoppers who use Zillow every day an easy way to see Canadian homes for sale,” said Errol Samuelson, Zillow Chief Industry Development Officer, in a statement.

“Zillow provides unprecedented global exposure for Canadian listings on a reliable and trusted platform home shoppers love. We’re excited about the momentum we’re making in Canada, and with every new Canadian partnership we build, the home shopping experience on Zillow will only get better.”

Listings can be posted onto the site for free by an agent whose brokerage or franchise is partnered with Zillow.

The business says it has a wide global reach, with over 100 million visits per year from non-US viewers. It was founded in 2006 by former Microsoft executives and the founders of Expedia.

The company’s stock is up by $2.18 (+5.62%), reaching $40.98, as of 1:30 pm EDT today upon news of its Canadian expansion.
