4 simple breakfast hacks that will help you become a morning person

Waking up in the winter can be tough.

For starters, it’s dark until almost 7:30 am so your body clock thinks it’s still nighttime when you wake up. So you snooze your alarm for five minutes… another five… and another five, before you eventually roll out of bed.

You jump in the shower and don’t want to get out because you know the temperature will be freezing, so you count to three before making your move. Like a true hunter-gatherer, you search the cabinets to realize that you have no food for breakfast and you have to leave the house in 10 minutes.

Ahhh yes, waking up can be a serious struggle, especially when you’re starting your day off without breakfast.

But don’t worry – we’ve found some simple hacks to morph you into a morning person,  and they’ll even help support a healthy immune system during cold and flu season.

Breakfast power bowl

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup dry old fashion oats
  • 1 scoop (about 1/4 cup or 28 grams) unflavoured whey protein
  • 1 x 3.1-ounce vanilla probiotic dairy drink such as Danactive
  • 1/4 cup water or milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit, sliced into wedges

If it seems like you’re stuck for time almost every morning, you’ll want to make a quick breakfast that you can enjoy before you leave your pad. You can get a bowl of oatmeal, whey protein, probiotic dairy drink, milk, and chia seeds ready and refrigerate overnight. Then add kiwifruit in the morning. Boom. And it comes with benefits too, as the kiwifruit is an amazing source of nutrients and antioxidants that can help boost your immune system. As an added plus, it takes less than five minutes to prepare.
