Shop, drink beer, and give back at the Xmas Social Pop-up

With the holiday season approaching, you’re probably thinking of ways to give back to solid charitable causes. The list can be overwhelming, but what if you could have a little fun while you help families in need?

That’s where the Xmas Social Pop-up event comes in. Vancouver-based clothing company with a cause Modern Fort and Westcoast Family Centres are teaming up to bring a fun social pop-up to Strange Fellows Brewing company on Thursday, December 10.

Ticket holders will get to shop, drink tasty beer, play games, and have a chance to win door prizes and 50/50 raffle ticket draws. There will also be food trucks and Santa Claus himself will even make an appearance.

When Modern Fort and Westcoast Family Centres teamed up last year, they raised $10,000 to support four single-parent families, and this year they’re fundraising for WFC’s “Building Blocks for Better Lives” fund which supports local families with children.

As a small example, here are some of the ways the funding is used:

  • Diapers/Formula
  • Emergency food
  • Xmas hampers
  • Crib
  • Car seat
  • Children’s Camp
  • Moving expenses to leave abusive partner
  • Education
  • Home safety/childproofing items (such as outlet plugs, cupboard latches, foam covers for table corners) etc.

Entry to the Xmas Social Pop-up is by donation, so if you want to help struggling families this holiday season, this might be the perfect way.
