WTF: Whistler No. 8, Vancouver No. 5 Bachelor Party Destinations?

This article may be a little dated, however not much can change in a year, so I decided that this post is still some what relevant. So apparently both Whistler and Vancouver rate high as destinations of choice for bachelor parties. Sorry ladies no mention of Bachelorette parties in this piece, perhaps one of our female writers or you can comment from personal experience. When I read this I was perplexed as to why these two seemingly bachelor party havens go unnoticed by many locals, myself included. Perhaps it’s just me?

The main elements to any bachelor party of course are strip clubs and strippers and in Vancouver at least the clubs seem to be diminishing at an alarming rate. Won’t anyone please think about the strippers!? How are our lovely college gals going to put themselves through school now? I kid, I kid sorta. I realize that the No. 5 Orange is a great establishment, as are Brandi’s and The Penthouse, but the lap dances are far too expensive and they employ the same women from here to the far reaches of the Fraser Valley. Sure sometimes they’ll bring in some special dancers, but those occasions are rare and hardly worth the extra cost. From what I hear not too many business meetings are being conducted at Brandi’s these days at least that is what UD tells me.

The above mentioned strip clubs seem to be a dying a slow death in this city, gone is the golden age of titty bars when Vancouver was known for its strip joints. Hell, Bon Jovi even named the album “Slippery When Wet” as an ode to Vancouver’s famous strip joint the No. 5 Orange. Furthermore, instead of a decline in strip clubs I’d like to see the reverse, lets bring an upscale Spearmint Rhino type joint to Granville Street. It’s the perfect location. I guess this is one of the dark sides of gentrification.

I know that strip clubs are just one element to a good bachelor party after all there are some reputable places *coughs* Carman Fox that bring the ‘dancers’ to you or you can go The Bachelor Plan route. All in all nothing beats Vegas as this article states.

Here is what Askmen.com said about Whistler and Vancouver and see if you agree with their assertion.

Whistler No. 8

Snow, beer, babes who ski — what else do you need? Whistler has long been known for its ski slopes and killer village filled to the brim with snow bunnies. But the restaurant and club scene is nothing to sneeze at either. Buffalo Bill’s just about guarantees a hangover the next day. According to the locals, this is the granddaddy of all clubs when it comes to Whistler. Fun music and an upbeat crowd guarantee a wild night for the bachelors. Need a place to rest and enjoy a cigar between shots? Head to the upscale Mallard Lounge and Terrace in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

Hotspot: The Boot Pub. Whistler’s one and only strip joint is the perfect location to find Canadian babes who need some warming up.

Vancouver No. 5

This Canadian Hollywood is the perfect place to club and keep an eye out for celebrities. Granville is the street to hit for a night out with the beautiful people. Check out Roxy Night Club if you’re looking for bachelorettes with a similar fate (or just some of her friends, for the single groomsmen in the bunch). Hope to catch Heather Graham’s eye? You can find celebrities hobnobbing at trendy AuBAR.

Hotspot: The Cecil Hotel, one of Vancouver’s largest strip clubs, is in the middle of the Granville action, making it easy to access while moving from club to club.

Anyways, I found it very surprising to say the least, ultimately Vegas and Montreal are number 1 and 2 respectively, so this list does have some credibility.
