Written On The Body is an interdisciplinary performance where music can be seen and
dance can be heard. Created by McBride Fieldhouse artists-in-residence Elisa Thorn
(harp) and Dayna Szyndrowski (percussive dance), the evening is a thought-provoking
reflection on a quote from Jeanette Winterson’s book of the same title: “Written on the
body is a secret code only visible in certain lights, the accumulations of a lifetime
gather there.”

As a framework, the work will navigate the intersections of music and dance, tradition and innovation, and composition and improvisation to explore our deeply entrenched relationship to our own body.
