Grab your shovel! A family-focused event for a good cause this weekend in Stanley Park will be centred around the World’s Largest Sandbox.

The World’s Largest Sandbox will be set up at Second Beach in Stanley Park, and kids are welcome to climb in and play. But the goal of the gathering is twofold; put on by the non-profit Passage Give, the sandbox is there to bring kids and caregivers together to learn about children’s mental health.

Dubbed “Hello Sandbox,” the event “is about supporting kids to feel, think and act in ways that enhance their ability to enjoy life and deal with the challenges they face,” according to the organizers.

Hello Sandbox, which takes places Saturday, August 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. will include games and activities for the kids, live music, food, and appearances by some of the world’s leading experts on children.
