Young, playful, unpredictable, and BELLE? Sure sounds like all the right features to become the new “IT” girl. Chloe Roxx is a rising singer, songwriter, and recording artist with an undeniable model background. This starlet was born in Montreal, but grew up most of her teenage years in Hollywood, California. Although she somehow managed to make her way back north to Vancouver, this is not the final destination, and I’m not talking about a horror movie directed by James Wong. Chloe might always be Canadian but all her bags are packed and ready to go, flying to London in just two weeks to get back in the studio to record the next “Singles” that will have us all singing along soon enough and sending her out on her first tour.

First of all, why Roxx?

Chloe: At 14 years old after being scouted in Miami by a Virgin Records A&R I moved out to Hollywood, where I started meeting and working with major record labels like Capitol Records and Grammy winning producers who’s past artist had sold millions of albums, who for some reason always referred me to this little rockstar. I think I just had a self-confidence, attitude and style that most 14 year old girls don’t have when they walk into a room or on stage. Rockstar eventually turned to the expression “Chloe Rox” in the recording studio and I added an “x” to make it more interesting.

Why did you decide to move to Vancouver from LA?

Chloe: I’m Canadian and I was at the point where I needed to take a break and live new experiences to come up with new material, lyrics, music, opinions and find out who I am right now at 20 years old, and embrace my passion again that sometimes gets temporarily kidnapped in the emotional roller coaster of being in the music industry. I had to take a step back to move forward. I had to try to live a normal life to realize and accept that I’m different and that the 9 to 5 job isn’t for me.

Chloe, where does your inspiration to write songs come from?

Chloe: Boys, Boys, Boys, and Life… All my inspiration comes from everyday things that happen to me, people that cross my path and how they make me feel. All the songs I have written about are from very personal experiences, sometimes with added drama, fantasys, or feelings but the root is always very real and true to the story. I have a very big imagination, I have a tendency to dream about all those scenarios in my head like movies and every song I write is me storytelling, sometimes even kiss and telling/singing.

What are you waiting for from your new journey in London?

Chloe: I’ve moved a total of 18 times, so to say I’ve been around is a fare statement, but London is a whole new adventure to me. I’m currently co-writing for other artists but going overseas for me will open new doors and expose me to a new world to find the right producer to make this hit record finally, and go on tour hopefully summer 2013! I’ve never been to the UK before and having the opportunity to go and hang out in the Wendy House Production Studios where people like Kylie Minogue, Jessie J, Pixie Lott, and One Direction have recorded in is exciting.

What would be your advice to young singers?

Chloe: Don’t trust anyone, music is a filthy industry just like many others with many twist and turns. Truth is people underestimate the skills you must have to make it big in this industry. Don’t be fooled if you think being a singer is easy it isn’t, the hours of work without compensation, recognition and all your money invested with nothing left in your pocket and no guaranteed of success sucks and is scary! You got to be ready to put all your sweat and tears and believe in yourself more then anyone ever will and want it more then the other “Wannabes” be next to you.
