Woman stabbed in attempted East Vancouver purse-snatching

A 60-year-old woman was stabbed during a purse-snatching attempt in East Vancouver on Tuesday afternoon.

Just before 3 pm, the woman was walking along East 2nd Avenue near McLean Drive when she was approached from behind by an unknown woman who attempted to steal her purse.

“A short struggle ensued and the victim was stabbed before the suspect ran out of the area,” said VPD officer Jason Doucette.

Doucette told Daily Hive the victim was taken to hospital where she was treated for her injuries and then released.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and the investigation continues.
