Vancouver Police have arrested and charged a woman for an early morning homicide on Friday near Pacific Central Station and SkyTrain’s Main Street-Science World Station.

According to release, police were called to Station Street near National Avenue at approximately 3:30 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered an unconscious man lying on the ground covered in blood. The 31-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but did not survive his injuries.

“Police took several witnesses and a person of interest into custody shortly after the body was discovered and were able to piece together the series of events leading up to the man’s death,” reads a statement by police.

The deceased male is believed to have been involved in a dispute involving a number of individuals at a nearby rooming house. The suspect followed the man as he left the building and attacked him on the street.

The suspect has since been identified as 23-year-old Sadie Taniskishayinew. She has been charged with second degree murder and remains in custody until her next court appearance on Tuesday.

The name of the victim has not been released as police are still working to confirm his identity and notify his family.
