Fresita’s sparkling wine is like opening up a bottle of summer in the dark fall months. It is perfectly flavoured with (real) strawberries and infused to a pink perfection. I enjoyed this with spicy food, and found that the balance of sweet and spicy was a perfect pairing. As well, I experimented with some different liqueurs in order to make it a star in a cocktail recipe. My favourite addition? Campari, a bitter Italian liqueur.
I think this wine is best enjoyed either on its own, as an aperitif, or even with dessert. To pair like with like, try having it with a strawberry shortcake as dessert. Or, pair with spicy prawns before dinner. If you want to enjoy it as the main event, any spicy food will do! Try it with spicy Indian or Korean food for a great match.
Fresita is sweet, bursting with flavour, and like a party in your mouth! Really, this wine would be perfect for a bridal shower, a brunch hosted with friends, or to put out at your next party. It’s nothing but festive, and the strawberry flavour is beautifully intertwined with the refreshing bubbles.
