Canada vs USA/Canada Soccer
This will be the first time the US team has returned to Vancouver since their 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Victory here at the final on July 5, 2015. And the rivalry endures as the CONCACAF opponents continue to face off in FIFA Women’s World Cup and Olympic Qualification cycles.
Back in the 2012 London Olympics, the two teams staged an epic battle, a memorable moment that put Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team firmly in the upper echelons of Canadian sports. Now the Canadian side features new striking and dynamic attacking ability, lead by young stars Jessie Fleming, Jordyn Huitema, and Deanne Rose.
Burnaby-native and captain, Christine Sinclair, is the top women’s goal scorer active in international soccer (just behind retired USA’s Abby Wambach by a mere 16 goals). So becoming number one is a goal that could be within Canada’s grasp!
