Best places to snow tube in and around Vancouver this winter

If you’ve never gone snow tubing, you’re missing out on one of the easiest and most fun winter activities in Metro Vancouver.

With skiing and boarding getting all of the attention, people often forget about tubing, which is a less expensive and more accessible activity for kids and adults looking for a shot of adrenaline up on the alpine.

Most tubing parks have lifts, or give you the option to get the cardio and hike back up, but the thrill is all about the ride down. Perched on top the tube, riders glide quickly, spinning out of control before eventually coming to a sudden stop at the bottom of the run.

Cypress Mountain

  • What: Six chutes roughly 100 m in length with a tube tow back up to the top.
  • Cost: $20 per person for two hours.
  • When: Monday to Thursday 10 am to 4 pm, Fridays and Saturdays 10 am to 9 pm and Sundays 10 am to 6 pm, with adjusted hours over the holidays. See holiday hours here:

Mount Seymour

  • What: Features a tube tow back up the hill as well as the Enquist Lodge where spectators can enjoy a warm seating area with light snacks and a roaring fireplace.
  • Cost: Holidays and weekends: $22 for two hours ($10 for one extra hour), standard rate $20 per person.
  • When: Has not yet opened for 2017/18 winter season

  • What: Seven tube lanes with slopes to suit everyone from speed demons to slow coaches. The tube park also features a fire pit, snack vendor and a full sound system.
  • Cost: $23 for one hour, $31.50 for two hours.
  • When: Open daily from December 9 to April 22: Monday to Friday 11 am to 6 pm, weekends and holidays 10 am to 6 pm.

Sea to Sky Gondola

  • What: Four lanes of varying sliding levels, walk back up the hill (no tube tow available).
  • Cost: $5 per person plus price of gondola ticket ($12 to $34)
  • When: Daily from 10 am to 3:30 pm, depending on weather conditions. Has not yet opened for 2017/18 winter season.
