Abbotsford International Airport’s (YXX) connectivity will greatly increase this spring with the addition of 14 new flights per week serving two major Canadian destinations at highly economical pricing.

A new daily, non-stop route from YXX to Winnipeg will be operated by WestJet beginning April 30, effectively becoming the airline’s 13th non-stop route from Winnipeg. Flights will leave YXX at 1:10 pm and arrive at 5:48 pm while return trips will depart Winnipeg at 7:25 am and land at 8:20 am.

One-way travel on WestJet’s new Winnipeg service starts ultra-cheap at $93.59, with all charges and taxes included, for bookings made by February 27.

As well, the airline will significantly boost its service to Edmonton from 13 flights per week to 20. The new Winnipeg route and increased Edmonton service will utilize Boeing 737 aircraft.

Altogether, these increases will bump WestJet’s weekly departures from YXX to 60 flights. It also operates regular flights from the airport to Calgary and seasonal flights to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

“WestJet has built its reputation as Canada’s low-fare leader since 1996 and these flights further solidify this position,” said Brian Znotins, WestJet Vice-President, Network Planning, Corporate Development and Alliances.

“WestJet has proudly and consistently served the people of Abbotsford, the Lower Mainland and Winnipeg for more than 20 years while many other airlines have come and gone. Our reputation as Canada’s low-fare leader is a position we will maintain as competition increases. We are pleased to connect two important WestJet markets this summer.”

YXX is another great option for residents of the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver, particularly those who live in Surrey and other eastern municipalities, given its close proximity, low-cost parking, and quick and efficient terminal.

The Lower Mainland’s secondary international airport saw a record of over 530,000 passengers in 2016, an increase of 43,000 passengers or 8.8% over the previous year. Other major airlines and routes that serve YXX include a seasonal Air Canada Rouge service to Toronto Pearson International Airport and NewLeaf services to Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Hamilton.

Other airlines that serve YXX include Island Express Air and Orca Airways.
