4 reasons to attend Vancouver's festival for the JUNOs this weekend

Mar 22 2018, 5:27 am

Spring is here, it’s almost time for Canada’s 47th annual JUNO Awards, and there are plenty of reasons to smile.

Yep, you should be grinning from ear to ear because there’s an outdoor festival happening in Vancouver this weekend in celebration of the JUNOs.

Let’s Hear It! LIVE is will be taking place on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, North Plaza. And it’s the perfect place to get your spring festival vibes flowing.

If you need a little more convincing, we’ve rounded up four good reasons why you’ll want to go. FYI, your weekend is about to get much more interesting!

It’s free to attend

You do know that some of the best things in life are free, right? Well, so is this full two-day pre-JUNOs festival. And since it’s located in the heart of downtown on West Georgia Street, there’s no reason not to go.

It’s happening, rain or shine

Vancouver is a city known for having unpredictable bouts of weather and we’ve come to accept the fact that carrying an umbrella around in your bag 24/7 is commonplace. Luckily, if it does end up raining this weekend, Let’s Hear It! LIVE will still be taking place because it’s going to be a canopy-covered festival.

The music

Some of BC’s top talent will be taking to the stage during the two-day event. According to Alex Grigg, executive director of Music BC and member of the JUNO Host Committee, you’ll hear everything from “the heavy beats of the Funk Hunters, to the country twang of Shawn Austin, all the way to the South Asian fusion sounds of Desi Sub Culture and Khanvict.” You can check out the full music lineup now via Let’s Hear It BC.

Fun for all the family

The first day of the festival is set to feature performances from the enchanting Victoria-based trio Fox Glove, to the emerging talents of Fintan O’Brien. There’ will also be hip-hop from First Nations act Mob Bounce; hard-hitting alt-pop from powerful female-fueled Little Destroyer, and much more. Day two will see the Junior JUNOS take over the stage with CBC Kids and performances by Big Block Singsong, Bobs & LoLo, The Moblees, and Splash’N Boots.
