Vancouver businessman Jim Pattison is now the fifth wealthiest person in Canada with an estimated wealth of $7.4-billion.

According to Canadian Business Magazine’s latest rankings, Pattison’s net worth went up by 10 per cent over the past year and was enough to bump the Vancouverite up into the nation’s Top 5 wealthiest list.

Pattison was the CEO of the organization that staged Expo ’86 in Vancouver and is now the sole owner and CEO of his namesake company, the Jim Pattison Group, which produces sales in excess of $7.5 billion over numerous industries and employs more than 35,000.

Only two other Vancouverites made the nationwide Top 25 list. Lululemon founder Chip Wilson came in one place short of the Top 10 while Mansoor Laljil of Larco Investments Ltd. came in behind Montreal’s Bombardier family at Top 23.
