Kick off your weekend with Wake n Shake, a giant Vancouver dance party

Shake off pre-work exhaustion with a huge dance party that’s coming to Vancouver on Friday.

Wake n Shake: Pre-Work Dance Party is back to kick off the summer. Young professionals (everyone and anyone is welcome) will gather at Beaumont Studios on Friday, June 3 to shake what their mamas gave them, bright and early in the morning.

Event organizer Cole Nakatani was inspired to bring the dance party to Vancouver after participating in one in New York.

I had so much energy after the event and couldn’t help but think about how much more productive I would be at work if this was available in Vancouver,” he said.

Wake n Shake debuted last summer and had over 100 people in attendance.

The event starts at 6:15 a.m. with a warm-up yoga class followed by dancing at 7 a.m. with DJs and live performers. If you need a little boost, there’s coffee, tea, fresh juice, and healthy snacks provided by local companies too.

Nakatani said he wants the event to be more than just a fun pre-work dance party; he wants to strike up a conversation with Vancouverites on mental health.

“We’re under increasing stress in our jobs, and our personal lives to do more with our limited time and energy. We want this event to not only be fun, but also a safe place for people to learn about how we can live healthier lives.”

A naturopath and registered massage therapist will be onsite to ignite conversations related to stress, healthy living, and nutrition.
