People are set to gather at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Saturday, December 17 in silent vigil for the ongoing situation in Aleppo.

The event was organized by UBC student Sawsan AlNajjar following the deteriorating situation in the besieged Syrian city.

“We will be holding a silent vigil in front of Vancouver Art Gallery for our brothers and sisters in Aleppo,” a Facebook event post states. “The situation in Aleppo has worsen in the last few days. The people in Aleppo are sending out their last cries. We will be having some posters and candles to show support and solidarity.”

Staff from almost every major resettlement agency are expected to be in attendance, as well as the founders of the Syrian Canadian Council of BC and Refugees Matter.
