Over the last few weeks, Victoria has earned a title on two lists that name it as one of the Top 10 romantic cities in North America and Canada’s most romantic city.
USA Today’s compilation of North America’s most romantic cities described our provincial capital in the following way: “Mountains meeting the sea is always a sublime setting for romance. Add lush parks, whale watching and a European-style downtown and this charming city scores high with lovers.”
Other cities that made the American daily’s list include: Annapolis (Maryland), Bar Harbor (Maine), Boston, Charleston (South Carolina), Honolulu, Jackson (Wyoming), Historic Lexington (Kentucky), Mendocino (California), Nantucket (Massachusetts), Naples (Florida), New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Savannah (Georgia), Sedona (Arizona), Sonoma (California), St. Paul (Minnesota), and Stowe (Vermont).
According to the editors of the publication,”each of these special places provides a picturesque setting while offering other attributes specifically attuned to passion.”
In another list released this week by Amazon Canada, Victoria was ranked as Canada’s most romantic city based on the electronic commerce giant’s data on sales of romance novels and relationship books, romantic comedies, and a collection of romantic music CDs from artists such as Dean Martin, Barry White, Luther Vandross, Miguel and Michael Bublé.
Amazon evaluated and compared cities with more than 80,000 residents and on a per capita basis.
