A new coffee and tea festival is coming to Vancouver this weekend

The Vancouver International Coffee and Tea Awards Festival (VICATA), is celebrating its inaugural event this weekend.

The festival aims to celebrate a Vancouver favourite and bring world-class coffee and tea brands together.

At the event, the best brands in each industry will compete for the top spot and give visitors a chance to sample some of their newest products.

The best brew in each category of coffee and tea will be decided with a blind taste test. Attendees will also be given a chance to participate with a ‘People’s Choice’ award, as chosen by the public.

Categories for the event are as follows:

Tea:

  • Iced
  • Green
  • Black
  • Herbal & organic
  • Kombucha & specialty

Coffee: 

  • Iced and blended
  • Black and brewed
  • Espresso
  • Cold Brew
  • Specialty & other

Best Summer Beverage (other than coffee or tea)

People’s Choice Award

In addition to some world-class beverages, guests can expect to find live music, delicious food, and activities for attendees of all ages.

Best of all, the festival is free and open to the public.

This year’s festival takes place on Sunday, August 19 at David Lam Park from 10 am to 4 pm.
