Stay active as a family while you walk through the 55-acre outdoor oasis with floating bridges, ponds, lakes and forest. For some added excitement, kids can also try and find their way through the famous hedge maze! Learn about nature as you discover over 7,000 different plants from around the world, with many already in bloom including Rhododendrons, Helleborus, Crocus, Cornelian Cherry, Camellias and Magnolias. Plus, keep your eyes peeled for local garden wildlife and try and spot the hummingbirds, ducks, herons, turtles, butterflies, hawks, owls and more.
Aspiring photographers of all ages can take advantage of a spectacular backdrop of flora, fauna, artist sculptures and features such as the Korean Pavilion, Scottish Shelter, Stone Garden and Tractor – all perfect for your next selfie. On your way out, make sure to stop by the gift shop and check out VanDusen’s great selection of garden tools and accessories, plants, seeds, souvenirs, gifts and more.
Want to make a day of your VanDusen family excursion? Pack up your snacks and dine al fresco with the whole family – outside food and beverages are allowed in the garden. Picturesque picnic spots include Livingstone Lake, Heron Lake and Meadow Pond. Truffles Café, located in the Visitor Centre, also offers take-out sandwiches, soups, salads and hot drinks. Prefer a meal indoors? Shaughnessy Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and offers great views of the garden.
Until March 31, get up to two free garden admissions for kids 12 years and under, with the purchase of a regular price adult, senior or youth admission.
