Tangoo, Vancouver’s culinary and nightlife tech startup, has opened up early access to its new pocket concierge application. The platform allows you to easily plan a social outing by simply entering your mood and occasion.
The new concept will be pitched to the refreshed cast on CBC’s Dragons’ Den in April, which is bound to be interesting as they face off with local food celebrity and restauranteur, Vikram Vij. The company has digitized its original “resto-cocktail hop” experience that took Vancouver by storm in 2013 through over 25 media appearances and as one of Vancouver’s top startups to look out for.
Tangoo’s pocket concierge application is an easy and personalized way to organize a social outing by recommending restaurants and venues tailored to match your exact mood and occasion. An easy way to think about it is the “Songza for going out.”
With a simple and beautiful interface, its purpose is to make planning your outing as seamless and fun as possible. You can currently use it for planning a date night, friend group outing, or a business lunch or dinner. Once you choose your occasion, you can select a unique combination of moods and situations that fit your outing plans. You can also use traditional search filters such as cuisine, price, and neighbourhood.
Users can thumbs up an establishment based off how well they suit a particular mood or situation. This is usually done after someone visits a location or if they have been there before. Tangoo alongside local culinary experts and food bloggers handpick the best restaurants and establishments most likely to provide a unique experience for your outing.
In true Tangoo spirit of hopping around town, the application can visually summarize all locations you are interested in and how to best navigate between them if you’re planning to keep things going after dinner with cocktails, dessert, dancing, or entertainment.
The company has stated that it has been working closely with many of its over 100 restaurant partners to provide a specially personalized experience. Restaurants will be able to personalize the experience based off the mood you’re in through exclusive perks, promotions, and overall service. “Tangoo has always been passionate about working alongside passionate restauranteurs to give customers a personalized experience that goes beyond the norm” says CEO, Paul Davidescu.
“An important aspect about Tangoo has always been to better connect business owners with customers through creative and personalized experiences so as we decided to move our service onto an application, we made sure to keep that crucial personal touch.”
Tangoo partners participating on the new platform include the likes of independents such as Chill Winston, Pidgin, La Pentola, and top restaurant groups such as Heather Hospitality Group, The Glowbal Group, Urban Thai Group, Nuba, and The Donnelly Group.
Tangoo is available for early beta access on www.tangoo.ca and will be released on the Apple App Store in early summer.
