20-year-old man killed in Vancouver West Point Grey collision

A single vehicle collision in Vancouver’s Westside, within the West Point Grey neighbourhood, has claimed the life of one young man.

According to Vancouver Police, the incident occurred this morning at approximately 6 am on West 4th Avenue near Trimble Street.

The 20-year-old man was driving east on West 4th Avenue when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole. He did not survive his injuries.

Few details are available at this time. The identity of the deceased male has not been made public, with the exception of the detail that he is a Surrey resident.

Investigators with the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are working to determine the causes and circumstances behind the collision and are asking anyone who may have information to contact police at 604-717-3012.

So far this year, including this morning’s incident, there have been six collision-related deaths in Vancouver.

This was Vancouver’s second traffic-related incident today. Early this morning, a 22-year-old man walking in traffic was seriously injured in a hit-and-run on the Granville Street Bridge.
