Temperatures in Metro Vancouver will be sizzling today, prompting Environment Canada to issue a special weather warning.
At some inland Metro Vancouver locations, temperatures will reach 35°C, while closer to the water, it will max out at 25°C. The warmth is caused by a strong ridge of high pressure builds along the coast.
The hot temperatures will continue heading into the weekend, while things will cool off slightly on Monday.
Environment Canada warns people to stay in air conditioned buildings for “several hours” and to use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more. Drinking water before you feel thirsty and checking in on people at high risk of heat related illness are also advised.
