Vancouver wages will increase in 2013

Wages in Vancouver will be on the rise, just slightly lower than the projected national increase. 

The Hay Group, an international HR consultancy firm, states the average Vancouver salary will rise by 2.3%. Last year, salaries in Vancouver rose 2.35%.

Nationwide, average salary is expected to increase by 2.6%. However, this is down 0.3% from last year.

Highest predicted salary increases by sector:

  • Oil and Gas 4%
  • Services 3.3%
  • Credit Unions 3.2%

Lowest predicted salary increases by sector:

  • Leisure and hospitality 2.0%
  • Retail 2.1%
  • Consumer durables 2.1%
  • Forestry and paper 2.1%
  • The public sector 2.3%
  • Private sector industrial 2.7%
  • Financial  2.7%
