Vancouver really is one of the best places in Canada!
We’ve been saying it for years. But now we have proof in the form of a new poll by Insights West that has named Vancouver and Victoria as two of the top three most appealing destinations in Canada for Canadians.
The survey, conducted online between May 26 and June 2, asked 1,808 Canadians about the places they would most like to visit across the country.
Topping the list was the Banff and Lake Louise area in Alberta, considered a “very appealing” location by 60% of respondents.
Van City followed in second place with 54% of respondents hoping to visit.
Extrapolate that out with Canada’s 36 million strong population and that’s 19 million people who want to come to Vancouver. Okay, we admit the math is a bit wonky. But we’re unashamed homers here at Daily Hive!
Elsewhere in BC , Victoria came in third, and was very appealing to 53% of those polled.
Surprisingly however, Whistler only proved very appealing to 41% of respondents, behind Halifax in Nova Scotia, and St. John’s in Newfoundland and Labrador. Go figure?
Elsewhere in Canada, some 47% of respondents said Montreal was very appealing, while 35% said Toronto was a very attractive vacation spot.
Meanwhile, Calgary garnered the attention of 34% of respondents. That may seem low, but spare a thought for Regina, which came dead last.
The capital of Saskatchewan – and home of Marvel anti-hero Deadpool – was only considered very appealing by 12% of respondents.
Nevertheless, Regina may soon get its fair share of tourists; some 31% of those polled have changed their plans for travelling to the US due to the political climate.
The more the merrier this side of the border, eh?
