This fall, Vancouver will have a new non-stop weekly flight route to Huatulco, a beautiful set of bays and coves in Oaxaca state on the Pacific coast of Mexico.

WestJet will operate the service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Bahías de Huatulco International Airport (HUX).

The flights, starting at $289.39, will operate between October 29, 2017 and April 28, 2018, as part of the airline’s seasonal winter schedule.

The new service will depart YVR at 9 am and arrive at HUX and 3:47 pm, while return trips will depart HUX at 4:50 pm, arriving at YVR at 10:12 pm.

Flights to Huatulco will be operated on WestJet’s Boeing 737 aircraft with WestJet’s inflight entertainment system accessed through smartphones, tablets or computers.

WestJet will also be increasing services from Vancouver to other Mexican destinations Cabo San Lucas, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.

As well, WestJet will be starting its seasonal service to Hawaii, to Kauai and Kona, several weeks earlier also on October 29, 2017.

In a release, Craig Richmond, President and CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority, said the announcement by WestJet is fantastic news.

“The addition of Huatulco as well as increasing their other pre-existing services means that WestJet now offers our passengers more services to Hawaii and Mexico than any other carrier at YVR!” said Richmond.

“We are pleased that we are able to offer further options for passengers looking to escape the winter to go to sun destinations or go home to visit loved ones in Canada over the holidays.”

According to the release, this winter WestJet will operate an average of 700 daily flights to 93 destinations in Canada, the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and Europe.
