Get outside of your routine with Spontaneity

Dec 2 2016, 12:51 am

New Years resolutions tend to stay to the practical – lose weight, exercise more, eat healthy.

Sometimes we’ll expand our horizons and vow to learn an instrument, develop a new hobby, discover a talent. We may even resolve to change our perceptions of the world, moving away from the routine and into the spontaneous.

The Vancouver TheatreSports League (VTSL) Improv Comedy Institute has a class that will make those resolutions a reality.

VTSL’s Spontaneity class is a beginner program designed to give you an introduction to the world of improvisation. These weekend classes are not only fun, but they’re practical – giving you skills that you can apply to other aspects of your life.

Participating in improv can make you a better conversationalist, unlock your creativity, work better as a team, and give you better leadership skills. It can also help people overcome anxiety and create a more positive outlook on life.

So really, Spontaneity isn’t just a class that will give you a new hobby – it will totally reinvent your way of interacting with the world, and that sounds like a pretty good New Years resolution to us.

Spontaneity classes take place on a number of different days and times. Many are weekend long stints, with four hours of class per day, but others are on weekdays for two hours each night. You can register for all of the classes online.

If you want to experience the entertainment of improv without getting on stage, then follow VTSL on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to stay informed on all their upcoming shows.
