New Vancouver restaurant ad mocks rampant condo development

The owners of new Vancouver restaurant Assembli have taken a different approach to advertising outside their spot on Cambie.

With the help of ad agency One Twenty Three West, they’ve plastered their windows with a poster apparently screaming “NEW CONDO DEVELOPMENT.”

Or so it seems until you read the small print.

The poster actually reads, “This is not a new condo development. Unless you want to live in a salad and pizza joint. In which case, welcome home.”

The new Assembli restaurant could be open by the end of April, at 2325 Cambie Street at 7th, previously a third location of Hubbub sandwiches.

But One Twenty Three West CEO Scot Keith told Daily Hive the innovative, award-winning ad agency thought they’ve have a little fun in the meantime.

“Everywhere you look in this city – there’s a new condo going up,” said Keith. “We thought this would be a fun thing to put up because of the condo fatigue on Cambie and everywhere in Vancouver.

“By just doing something fun and unique, people in the area love it and talk about it.”
