VPD investigate reports of woman waving gun at passing cars

Update (4 pm, April 19): VPD has said that officers have conducted an exhaustive search of the area but were not able located the suspicious woman. Anyone who sees suspicious activity in the area is asked to call 9-1-1.


Vancouver police are investigating a “suspicious person” after receiving reports of a woman waving what is thought to be a gun at passing cars.

Just before 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 19, police received a report of a woman apparently waving a gun at cars on Oak Street near Devonshire Crescent.

The VPD has several officers in the area and is currently making attempts to locate the woman.

Schools and hospitals in the area have been notified, and out of what the VPD described as “an abundance of caution”, those institutions are taking their own safety precautions.

The VPD has provided no additional information at this time.
