Vancouver Quidditch team will teach you how to catch that Snitch

Yes, you too can catch that Golden Snitch, at a free intro to Quidditch to be hosted by the Vancouver Vipertooths in October.

The gender-inclusive community Quidditch team was created in 2014 and is open to muggles interested in trying out the magical sport that was made famous by J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.

All skill levels are welcome at Quidditch 101, which will take place next to the baseball diamond near Patterson SkyTrain Station in Burnaby on October 1.

If you’ve never played Quidditch before (lets face it, most of us haven’t) not to worry, because the Vipertooths will be there to teach you all about the game.

“It’s a welcoming community! A good mix of goofiness with a competitive edge,” David St-Germain of the Vipertooths tells Daily Hive. St-Germain says Quidditch can be a chaotic sport as there is a lot happening at once. There are five balls on the pitch including a Quaffle, three Bludger, and the Snitch.

“(Quidditch) is a  good workout depending on how intense you want it to be,” he said.

“It’s is a complex sport, adaptable for multiple skills sets. Regardless of your sports background, you can find a way to utilize your skills as the positions (keeper, chaser, beater & seeker) are quite unique.”
