The Vancouver Police have cracked a stolen property ring and recovered approximately $250,000 in suspected stolen name brand clothing and merchandise.

On December 7th, patrol officers, working off a tip from the VPD Anti-Fencing Unit, received information that stolen property was being sold from an apartment located in the 5300 block of Victoria Drive.

When police attended the building, they found an apartment with its door open and approximately 10 people inside trying on jackets from clothing racks. Inside the 500-square-foot apartment, police found a dressing room and a display room lined with clothing. A second room was dedicated to children’s clothing. The kitchen counters were covered in name brands such as North Face, Tommy Hilfiger and Mexx. The kitchen cabinets were full of designer wallets and perfume.

Upon further investigation, police found a large quantity of designer merchandise with sales tags attached, and many of the items were being sold at 1/3 of the retail price.

Two Vancouver women were arrested for being in possession of stolen property over $5,000. The 45 and 53 year old women have been released from custody, pending further investigation by police.

With the assistance of Vancouver Police Community Safety Personnel, the property was removed from the apartment and taken to the VPD Property Office. Police will now be contacting retailers in attempt to identify the lawful owner of the suspected stolen merchandise.
