Investigators with the VPD Sex Crimes Unit are looking for witnesses to a recent sexual assault of a woman on Kingsway near Sidney Street.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on October 22nd, a 36-year-old woman was walking east along Kingsway when a man passed by and grabbed her breast. He began to walk away, but then ran at the victim, grabbed her and sexually assaulted her.

The victim started to scream and was able to fight off and get away from her attacker.

During her escape, the woman ran into traffic and got inside an older model minivan. Police have not been able to locate the van or identify the woman driver.

Detectives have identified a person of interest in the case and are asking for the witness driving the minivan, and any other witnesses, to contact police so the investigation can continue to move forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-0600.
