A one-block stretch in downtown Vancouver has been closed off by Vancouver Police this afternoon after a person fell to their death.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Helmcken Street, between Burrard and Hornby streets. Witnesses told Vancity Buzz the person plummeted from the north side of the street on the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.

Police are investigating the incident and have closed off that section of Helmcken Street. Northbound and southbound traffic on Burrard Street has not been affected.
