Vancouver Party Safari offers sober rave, disco, and tour for free

A new festival launching in Vancouver this October is offering a free yoga rave, silent disco, and party tour all for free. The catch? This is a sober celebration.

Hosted by Party4Health, the Party Safari Festival will be held on Friday, October 6 at UBC’s The Nest to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

In a release, Party4Health founder Jacques Martiquet said the organization wanted to show that staying out late doesn’t have to be a vice.

“The principal of P4H is simple: no one needs to risk their life to have the best night of their life,” said Martiquet.

“It’s not that all alcohol use is unhealthy, it’s that a party founded on alcohol is less engaging and euphoric than a party founded on creative interactions and group socialization.”

The festival will include a morning yoga rave, a silent disco, a guided party tour, and four interactive workshops with guest speakers.

“What I’ve realized from the events I’ve been involved in is that taking part in pop-up activities… can really contribute to people’s social and physical well-being,” said Martiquet.

“And being sober saves a lot of money, too.”

Party4Health is a group of event designers based in Vancouver, sponsored by, among others, UTown@UBC and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
