Vancouver’s Olympic Cauldron will be re-lit in support of Team Canada competing at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games and to commemorate the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver.

Located on Jack Poole Plaza, the Cauldron will be re-lit:

  • Evening of the Opening Ceremony: Friday, March 7, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Evening of the Closing Ceremony: Sunday, March 16, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Evenings when Team Canada wins Paralympic gold: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Cauldron lightings for the Paralympic Games are made possible through anonymous donations by private sector companies.

During the Sochi 2014 Olympics, the Cauldron was re-lit six times beginning on February 12 to celebrate the four year anniversary of Vancouver 2010. It was re-lit again in the evenings of the same day when Canada won a gold medal and twice on the final day of competition to celebrate the conclusion of the Games and the men’s Olympic hockey gold medal win.
