Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver: Countdown to 2019

What: One of the largest New Year’s Eve celebrations in Canada, the fireworks spectacle on the Coal Harbour waterfront in downtown Vancouver on this auspicious night sees an attendance of over 100,000 people. Returning for its fourth consecutive year, Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver’s celebration is promising dazzling fireworks shows, a free outdoor street party at Jack Poole Plaza, and an extravagant premium indoor party held inside Vancouver Convention Centre West.

When: From 7 pm on Monday, December 31, 2018, to early morning on Tuesday, January 1, 2019

Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver 2018/19  Indoor Party

What: The enormous West Ballroom of the beautiful West Building of the Vancouver Convention Centre will be transformed into the largest indoor NYE party in Canada. It is all part of Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver, one of the largest NYE festivals in Canada. Revellers can take in the concert festivities, whimsical art installations, and spectacular high-aerial fireworks from a warm, comfortable, and fun indoor environment. The fireworks will be viewed through the convention centre’s impressive multi-storey high, floor-to-ceiling windows. This is also the only indoor party in Vancouver with its own fireworks. In fact, the fireworks barge in Coal Harbour is strategically positioned to provide indoor party revellers with the best, unobstructed sight lines of the fireworks.

Family New Year’s Eve Celebration at Grouse Mountain

What: Enjoy performances throughout the night as well as a special 9 pm countdown for the littlest revellers that will be sure to light up the sky with a boom.

What: Ring in 2019 with a smile on your face with Vancouver  TheatreSports’ three special performances of Year in Review on New Year’s Eve. 2018 Year in Review takes an improvised look at the year’s top stories and adds a much-needed comedic perspective to prepare for the coming year. No event is safe from ridicule and, as always, the scenarios will be based on audience suggestions challenging the quick-witted improvisers to create instant, unscripted comedy.

IIHF World Junior Championship: Denmark vs Czech Republic and Russia vs Canada

What: It’s a World Junior Championship double-header on New Year’s Eve when Denmark takes on Czech Republic and Russia face off with Canada at Rogers Arena.

Robson Square Ice Rink 2018

What: The Robson Square Ice Rink is open for the 2018 and 2019 season. As per tradition, skating is free for all ages for those who bring their own skates. Those without skates can rent a pair on-site for a fee. An on-site concession stand will also serve warm drinks and snacks. The ice rink will be open until 11 pm on New Year’s Eve.

When: Now to February 28, 2019
Time: Sunday to Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm; Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 11 pm. Holiday hours vary – open until 11 pm on New Year’s Eve.

Cost: Free for all ages, if you bring your own skates (Skate rentals are $5, and rentals end 30 minutes before closing time)

No Pressure NYE at Colony

What: Colony Bar on Main Street and Colony Bar in Kitsilano are holding No Pressure NYE parties for those who want to celebrate in Vancouver without the stress. There are $20 buckets of Bud and Bud Light on special, and if you get stamped at #NoPressureNYE at either Colony location, you’ll be able to get a complimentary caesar at brunch the following day.
