Vancouver Mural Festival 2018 opens applications for artists

Vancouver Mural Festival has opened its application process for artists who wish to take part in the city’s largest annual public art celebration in 2018.

Festival organizers will be formally accepting between 20 and 30 artists for this year’s main festival in Mount Pleasant, according to their website.

However, submissions will also be considered for other ongoing projects in Vancouver throughout spring and summer this year.

Both emerging and established artists are welcome to apply. Artists must be available to complete mural painting between July 30 and August 11, 2018.

If you’re an artist interested in submitting to the festival, you have until February 28, 2018 to apply through the online form found here.

The team is not accepting mural designs, and the decision will be made on your online portfolio, on a website, Instagram, Tumblr, for example.

Some 80% of artists selected are expected to be from the Vancouver area; all artists will be compensated fairly and equipped with the supplies they need.

However, if you’re coming from outside Vancouver, travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered.

Successful applications will be contacted by May 1, 2018.
