On a global scale, Vancouver ranks as the 142nd most expensive city, followed by Toronto at 143. Indeed, all Canadian cities have fallen in the rankings due to the weak dollar.
“While the cost of living continues to rise in Vancouver and Toronto for locals, the weak Canadian dollar has made these cities compelling for expatriates from organizations outside the country,” says Gordon Frost, Talent Leader for Mercer Canada. “However, the depressed dollar provides a challenge to Canadian organizations looking to place employees in cities around the world.”
