Ariel Swan is a 34-year-old Vancouverite, who was born in North Vancouver minus a small stint in Sydney Australia. “By day”…she’s an ex- professional dancer and dance teacher who now teaches yin yoga, pilates and is a master trainer at Lagree West here in Vancouver.

She has been lucky enough to teach for Exhale Yoga retreats and last year alone taught retreats in Bali, Nicaragua and El Salvador. She is also one of four promoting partners in SJS… “Slow Jam Sundays”…a series of dance/music events in the clubs all over Vancouver. SJS has sold the Commodore Ballroom out 8 times with and without artists such as En Vouge, SWV, Ginuwine and Majid Jordan. SJS has become a staple in Vancouver’s nightlife and has a reputation of being one of the best nights out! “By night”…she’s an activist, a philanthropist, a leader and a visionary. Last year, she was a finalist for the Vancouver YMCA Power of Peace Award.

Ariel’s vision is focused on one, very simple idea…to use her birthday…and the birthdays of as many people as she can reach…for the benefit of the community, the nation, and the world. Her first step in realizing that dream was the founding of “Feed the People” an organization which brings individuals of all generations together to celebrate their…or a loved one’s birthday…by making and providing food and distributing clothing to residents of the DTES. Since Ariel founded Feed the People 5 years ago, she has done an event every month and has made and distributed 10,000 meals as well as inspired hundreds of people to come out and help those less fortunate. Since Ariel founded Feed the People 5 years ago, she has done an event every month and has made and distributed over 10,000 meals as well as inspired hundreds of people to come out and help those less fortunate. Last year

Last year she and her business partner for SJS Marlon J English raised $10,000 and went to a small village in El Salvador to build 3 houses for people living in the slums. Since then, the community has received a new water project, and electricity.

Ariel has pledged to raise $15,000 to build a community centre for the village and hopes this will allow the children and their parents a better life in the future. If you wish to learn more check it out.
