Vancouver Model: Carolina Sanchez

DH Vancouver Staff Mar 04, 2009 4:30 pm

As you are well aware Vancity Buzz always like to feature local talent. Today we’ll be highlighting local beauty Carolina Sanchez. Born in Chile she came here when she was 2 and we’re glad that she did. In the month or so that we’ve been trying to put this profile together it is evident that she is a down to earth, fun loving person. Yep we got that vibe from her from the inception of this process.
Here is the interview I conducted with the lovely Carolina:

VCB: I see that you’re in a music video with Belly. What was the name of the song and how did that come about? Have you made other television appearances?

It’s called “Amnesia” and it’s actually Caspian ft Belly =) I basically saw the casting for it, got a call and went in. Probably one of the best experiences I’ve had because you get to see first hand all the hard work that goes into making a video. No other appearances yet! That’s definitely to come…
VCB: Is acting something that you are interested in pursuing or just whenever the opportunity arises?
If the opportunity came up I would take it in a second. Acting is something I enjoy but am still a little too shy to make moves. It‘s a craft that I need to work on first. Just like models, there are a lot of aspiring models out there so you have to have that extra something.

VCB: Have you ever modeled during Vancouver Fashion Week? If so when and how was the experience?

I did, I modeled lingerie for She Coutourier lingerie a few months back. Walking down a runway in underwear is scary! But the rush you get at the end of the runway, with all the people cheering and taking your picture… it’s definitely a thrill and a half.

VCB: Have you ever modeled for any other shows?
My first show was for a model search for Strawberry Nights. First fashion show experience and I would have to say the best. I learned a lot and it brought out a side of me that even I didn’t know I had.

VCB: When did you first realize you wanted to pursue modeling?

I think every girl thinks about it once. I did when I was growing up cause I got the “Are you a model” comment a lot. But I was a tom boy till the age of 17/18 so I never considered it enough to make anything of it. It’s been the past year and a half where I have been pursuing it and taking it seriously.

VCB: What was your first paid modeling appearance?

It was a photo shoot with a photographer that wanted to update his book to take to a client so he could become their head photographer. I got paid, played around and just did my thing without really being told what to do.

VCB: In terms of your career aspirations, where do you see yourself in a year from now?

I see myself quitting my 9-5 and working in the industry. Not just as a model… there are many avenues I want to explore and right now I’m just meeting lots of new people that will help me get the experience I need.

VCB: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Watch 24!! haha I love that show! I’m honestly a homebody. I don’t like to party much so anything relaxing is kool. I kick it with the bf and our doggy’s a lot…walks and jogs are the best.

9) What kind of qualities do you look for in a man?

He has to be respectful. I’ve made the mistake in the past to date guys that don’t treat important people like their mom or sister with respect… that’s a bad sign. If he’s kind to his family he gets an A+. And the next big thing is a sense of humor. Those close to me know I’m weird and if the guy can be on that level or just “get it” then *high five* lol.

10) What is your favourite type of music? What is your favourite artist or band and why?

Hippity hop with a passion… and of course R&B. I love me some Raheem Devaughn, Tribe [A Tribe Called Quest], Common, Illa J, Dwele, Alicia [Keys]… soulful and beautiful.
