Billie Jo Elizabeth Bryce is not only a model, she is also a talented singer. You can check out her music on her myspace page. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to interview her, check it out:
VcB: How long have you been singing and was it something you knew as a child that you would do? Why country music?
BJB: I think every singer sings their whole life, it was always a dream of mine to be on the big stage and it still is. There is a lot of hard work and dedication that goes into trying to do something that not many others will, but i love the challenge. I grew up in a small town in the Okanagan and was raised on country and old rock so I guess the country music just came naturally. I would never change a day of this for anything else, and i am very honored for all the opportunities I have been receiving.
VCB: When did you first model and for whom?
BJB: I first got signed to a modeling agency called TyReah models when I was 19. I just recently left the agency but am actively seeking a new one. So for now most modeling gigs i am booking myself, however I am very excited to get on board with a new agency soon.
VcB: Modeling or Singing? Which do you prefer and which do you find easier?
BJB: Singing is definitely my number one. Its who I am. Don’t get me wrong modeling is great and I love the travel, but my heart is definitely in the music. Either way modeling and music kinda go hand in hand and i am very fortunate that i have the opportunity to do both.
VcB: You play every Sunday night at The Royal, how did that come about?
BJB: My best friend is a bartender at the Royal and said that the GM really wanted to do a country night, so I gave him a call. Our first show was January 19th and we’re still going strong. It’s great to get out and play as much as possible.
VcB: Where do you see yourself one year from now?
BJB: That’s tough to say. We are launching my first single “Hell or High Heels” to radio this upcoming month, while that is on radio I am heading down to do Nashville to do some writing. This summer we will be busy playing all over BC and hopefully the rest of Canada. I have a great management team and I believe that in a year I will be exactly where I need to be. I am very excited about this up coming year there are big things coming for BC country music and I am so happy to be a part of what BC has to offer.
VcB: Have you appeared in any major music festivals? If so, how was the experience?
BJB: I have played at Merritt Mountain Music Festival for a few years now, and it has been nothing but breath taking. The crowd is more than one could hope for. This summer I plan to broaden my fair and festival experiences, it’s a great way to get your name out there.
That concludes my interview with the lovely and talented Billie Jo Bryce. Catch her every Sunday night at The Royal (1028 Granville Street).
