A second foot found on Botanical Beach on Vancouver Island is confirmed to be a match to the first foot that was found by a hiker on February 7, according to BC Coroners Service.

The second foot in a running shoe was found by a person walking on the beach near Port Renfrew on February 12. The person recognized the significance of the find and immediately contacted authorities.

Both the shoes are a New Balance men’s size 12 that was first sold in North America between March 2013 and December 2015. Both feet detached from the body naturally after being immersed in water for an extended period of time.

The BC Coroners Service says they’re working with regional coroners and the police to determine the identity of the person and a cause of death.

These are the 13th and 14th feet to have washed up on B.C. shores since 2007. Ten out of 12 of the previous feet have been identified belonging to seven people. No foul play was involved in any of the cases.
