Homicide investigations: Two bodies found in West End and East Vancouver

Sep 30 2016, 7:40 am

It has been a busy 24 hours for homicide investigators with the Vancouver Police Department as they are investigating two separate incidents across the city.

Police were called to an apartment near Vanness Avenue and Rupert Street in East Vancouver at approximately 6:30 am today. Upon arrival, officers found the body of a 61-year-old woman inside the residence.

A man in the apartment at the time was arrested without incident and remains in custody. Homicide investigators continue to probe the incident and have indicated they will be recommending charges.

And yesterday night just before 7 pm, police discovered a body on the property of the 116-year-old historic Gabriola Mansion on Davie Street near Nicola Street in downtown Vancouver’s West End neighbourhood.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested and taken into custody, however, no charges have been laid at this time as homicide investigators are still gathering evidence to determine the exact cause of death and confirm the identity of the victim.

Few details were available at the time of publication as both investigations are in the early stages.
