On Saturday, June 7, Vancouverites toured in droves through some of the city’s most gorgeously preserved heritage homes.

Put on by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation, the Vancouver Heritage House Tour spanned multiples neighbourhoods and home types, pulling back the curtain on spaces that are typically only admired from the sidewalk.

Visits to the houses were very well organized, with volunteers directing people around and through in circuits. They were also on hand to tell more about the history of each home, from heritage elements to unique stories of past use and innovative preservations techniques.

This year was the first that apartment buildings were included on the tour, which provided a nice departure from the traditional detached home layouts. Visiting multiple units in buildings like The Exchange in the Olympic Village and the West End’s Queen Charlotte Apartments gave a nod to Vancouver’s dense livability and creativity with heritage spaces.

Check out photos of some of the brilliant interiors featured in this year’s tour. In addition to next year’s tour, the Vancouver Heritage Foundation will be hosting a Laneway House Tour this October.
