After already reaching record-highs this week, Vancouver gas prices are set to climb even further this weekend, to above the $1.60/lite mark – and then some.
In a tweet, GasBuddy.com’s Dan McTeague said drivers in the city should be prepared for a one-cent-a-lite jump on Saturday, followed by a two-cent-a-lite jump on Sunday.
This would bring gas prices in Vancouver to a record-breaking $1.619 / litre.

Earlier this week, McTeague told Daily Hive the high prices could be contributed to a number of factors, but that the price increases this past week largely come from a “supply limitation in Washington State, as two refineries are currently in runaround.”
McTeague also explained that the price spike is a combination of the cost of oil rising while the Canadian dollar has dropped three cents in value during the same period. The current cost of a barrel of oil is just below $67, according to Market Insider.
Happy weekend.
