It’s time to enjoy everything that we can eat and drink in the middle of May. Mother’s Day has come and gone, and now we can focus on the May Long weekend, patio season (you hear that, weather gods?), and all the deliciousness.

Celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with a special afternoon tea at the historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Along with your tea enjoy scones with Saskatoon berry compote, and Canadian tea sandwiches including Montreal Smoked Meat and Lobster Rolls, plus in-house baked sweets. Children’s Tea set available, too.

Eat your way around Burnaby Heights by enjoying delicious eats served up at a curated set of participating top restaurants and cafes. Organized by Vancouver Foodster, this is a fun evening of eating and a great way to get to know one of Burnaby’s most colourful ‘hoods.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler is partnering with Bici Gusti for a second year of Whistler’s exciting Gourmet Ride. Bici Gusti invites people to an event that is family-friendly, it will feature delicious feasts and of course, cycling! This Gourmet Ride is a fabulous way to start the biking season and cyclists of all levels are welcome.

It’s one of the best springtime food parties around. The Lamplighter hosts the great Gastown Chicken Fight for the sixth year. Gastown bars and restos compete to make the best chicken wings, and the public gets to taste and help decide the winners. Competitors are given 20lbs of wings and a bottle of Jim Beam Bourbon they must use in their recipe; they’ll finish on the grill at The Lamplighter during the event. Defending champs Bao Down will be there to defend their title.

Spot Prawn season is a favourite time of year for the team at YEW seafood + bar, and to celebrate, they’ll once again be holding their Spot Prawn Boil Sunday Dining Series. Book a seat at the communal table for a hands-on feast. Tie on a bib, sip on vino, and tuck into a gorgeous spot prawn boil with all the trimmings.

With menus that feature an ever-changing roast meat entrée and a selection of seasonal side dishes, the Sunday Suppers give guests the opportunity to raise a glass and say ‘Salute!’ while tucking into a feast that showcases Cibo’s hearty, Italian-inspired cuisine. This family-style dinner is offered at $27 per person (two person minimum) with optional wine pairings also available.
