6 Vancouver food events this week, March 13 to 19

If you are among the many Vancouverites hungry for some fun ways to get out and eating this coming week, here are 6 food events to check out this week, March 13 to 19, 2017.

1. Peruvian Tasting Menu at Ancora

For the entire month of March, Ancora Waterfront Dining is offering a one-of-a-kind Peruvian Tasting Menu. Inspired by his Peruvian heritage, Executive Chef Ricardo Valverde has created a menu featuring show-stopping dishes such as Papa a la Huancaina, Steelhead Trout, Squid & Prawn Ceviche, Short Rib Seco, and Picarones to finish. All these incorporate West Coast ingredients, and Okanagan wine pairings are available as well.

2. Burger of the Month at Donnelly Pubs: Back Bacon Jalapeño Cheeseburger

The Donnelly Group pubs have announced they’ll be doing a monthly burger feature, and for March it’s the Back Bacon Jalapeño Cheeseburger. The March burg is loaded with bacon, hot peppers, and a housemade cheese sauce.

3. Vancouver Foodster’s Grilled Cheese Challenge

Restaurants from all over the city were invited to enter their Grilled Cheese creations into this challenge. Each restaurant and food truck will be featuring their Grilled Cheese creations on their menu now thru March 19. Check out creations like Dunn’s Famous’ All Beef Hot Dog Grilled Cheese, or Melt City’s “So Gouda” and vote on your favourite.

4. Hey, Dumplings! Pop-up

Vancouver dumpling company Hey, Dumplings! is back for a seriously drool-worthy 6-month pop-up. The Russian-style local dumpling maker officially opened their seasonal shop as of March 4. Handmade daily for your pleasure, owner and dumpling connoisseur Heather Johnston creates a specific kind of dumpling called Pelmeni, which tehcnically translates to “ear bread.” They even make Dumpling Poutine!

When: Thursday to Monday from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm (or until sold out)

5. Sunday Paella Series at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar will once again conjure up the rustic flavours of Spain’s national dish with the return of the Sunday Paella Series. Taking place each Sunday through March and April, Executive Chef Alex Chen and team will serve up a three-course menu featuring Paella as the centrepiece of each communal, family-style feast. Other dishes featured during this meal include Young Beet Salad and Orange Crema Catalana.

6. BC Winemakers Dinner at Burdock & Co

Enjoy a dinner by Chef Andrea Carlson along with wine pairings from four Okanagan wineries for an unforgettable meal at Burdock & Co. Guests will enjoy wines from select local wineries which include Bella, Synchromesh, Nichol, and Lock & Worth.

When: Sunday, March 19 from 7 to 10 pm
